Shannon McMenamin Solicitor

Shannon joined Clelands Lawyers Adelaide in 2015 as a law clerk and was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia as a Solicitor in November 2016. Shannon was later entered on the Register of Practitioners of the High Court of Australia in December 2017, allowing her to practise in the Federal Court.
Shannon practises mainly in the area of commercial litigation, with a focus on building and construction disputes, commercial leasing and commercial contract disputes.
In particular, Shannon has worked on District, Supreme and Federal Court cases involving:
- The Building Work Contractors Act 1995 (SA);
- The Retail and Commercial Leases Act 1995 (SA);
- The Competition & Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) and Australian Consumer Law; and
- Actions for Possession.
Shannon has experience in debt recovery and insolvency matters, including negotiating Enforceable Payment Agreements, filing claims, obtaining and enforcing judgments, issuing statutory demands, and successfully completing bankruptcy proceedings.
She also practises in Wills and Estates matters, with a particular interest in estate administration and estate litigation.
Shannon constantly seeks to develop her knowledge of technology and innovation, and their impact on both business and the legal profession. She enjoys keeping an eye on the entrepreneurial and start-up scene in Adelaide, and attending industry events.
Prior to her time at Clelands, Shannon worked as a Law Clerk to a Barrister, conducting legal research on complex points of building and construction law. She also volunteered as an assistant to the Legal Counsel of the RSPCA.
Shannon volunteers as a Committee Member and Past Secretary of the Women Lawyers Association of South Australia, assisting on the Education and Website Subcommittees.
Shannon is also a Committee Member of the Women Lawyers Committee of the Law Society of South Australia, assisting with their Mentoring Program.
